چکیده

This article presents a review and analysis of the prospects achieving full-length autonomous driving, concept that has long been dream humans. Although automotive industry made significant progress in many areas, creating fully automated vehicles (level 5) remained challenge. paper examines some companies are already racing to achieve this feat, such as Tesla, Google's Waymo, Uber, challenges they face, ensuring safety reliability while also dealing with complex expensive technology. The highlights issues must be addressed when discussing vehicles, legal regulatory frameworks, public acceptance, cybersecurity. current generation not yet passed road tests, which raises questions about feasibility being able use near future. Despite challenges, suggests high level technological development implies will become reality someday. author concludes we may see driving cars on our roads soon, field is promising, expect these common sight

UX Challenges and Opportunities of Autonomous Vehicles regarding Driving Styles and Automation Levels

Despite the prevalent general discussion and prospect of autonomous vehicles, little research has approached this issue with a focused theoretical background. However, discussion without a specific user or user group might become too abstract. Moreover, given that automation is not a unified concept, we can consider different levels of automation when we envision user experience (UX) of autonom...

Experiments in Autonomous Driving with Concurrent Goals and Multiple Vehicles

1 In this paper, we report on experiments with a system for autonomously driving two vehicles based on complex mission specifications. We showed that the system is able to plan local paths in obstacle fields based on sensor data, to plan and update global paths to goals based on frequent obstacle map updates, and to modify mission execution, e.g., the ordering of the goals, based on the updated...

Combination of autonomous and controlled vehicles in driving simulator scenarios

This paper presents a design methodology for driving simulator scenarios in which autonomous and controlled surrounding vehicles are combined. The main motives are to achieve both a high realism and high reproducibility. The methodology is introduced using a theater metaphor in which a driving simulator scenario is defined as a constellation of: everyday life driving, preparations for plays, an...

Achieving intelligent performance in autonomous on-road driving

This paper describes NIST’s efforts in evaluating what it will take to achieve autonomous human-level driving skills in terms of time and funding. NIST has approached this problem from several perspectives: considering the current stateof-the-art in autonomous navigation and extrapolating from there, decomposing the tasks identified by the Department of Transportation for on-road driving and co...

Self-driving cars and data collection: Privacy perceptions of networked autonomous vehicles

Self-driving vehicles and other networked autonomous robots use sophisticated sensors to capture continuous data about the surrounding environment. In the public spaces where autonomous vehicles operate there is little reasonable expec tation of privacy and no notice or choice given, raising pri vacy questions. To improve the acceptance of networked au tonomous vehicles and to facilitate the...
